MERF Marathon –run 4 sight a charity run organised by Mahatma Eye Research Foundation. Mahatma Eye Research Foundation a registered society, under Society reg. Act.1957 located at Kozhikode, Kerala working for upliftment of people with blind and visually impaired assist visually challenged people and enable them to lead independent lives through education, training, counseling and communication, mobility and technology. Now we want to provide training and use of modern digital gadgets for day to day life to make them self sufficient.

Training can never be completed unless the person has the right tool in his or her hand to get trained. We wish to establish a centre for excellence in visual rehabilitation with state-of-the-art facility along with the assistance of world leaders in this field - the Perkins School of Blind and Light House International. In the rehabilitation area this centre can provide free training and counseling services to people who lose their eye sight for various reasons and a store which makes available visual aid products for the patients.

13K - Men & Women: First Rs.5000, Second Rs.2500, Third Rs.1000
All finishers will be given medals and all finishers of 13K & 3K can download the official certificates
Post Race refreshment will be provided for the runners.
 

Route of the Race

The route of run is by the beautiful stretch along the Calicut beach cessed by the Arabian Sea. Run starts from Gujarathi School up to Puthiyappa Harbour and back; the runners being rejuvenated by calm waters and early morning breeze also enjoying the sun sand and sea of Malabar.

Rules of the race

General:

    • Use only the online application or physical form downloaded from this site to submit your entries.
    • Please thoroughly go through all relevant information given on the event website and application form prior to submitting your application.
    • Physical forms need to be signed and submitted along with payment to organising committee office at Puthalath Eye Hospital, Kalluthankadavu, Puthiyara, Kozhikode
    • Reciept of payment is a must for physical application to be valid.
    • No refund is possible once the application is submitted under any circumstances
    • No change of category is possible.
    • In case there are fewer than 20 entries under any category or sub-category, that category or sub-category may be cancelled or merged with other category or sub-category at the discretion of the organisers without advance notice to the runners. This shall be conveyed to the runners before the start of the event.
    • Taxes and Charges as per Government notifications may be deducted as per rules currently in operation.
13K, 3K Run Entries:
    • Only individual entries shall be accepted. There is no provision for bulk entries. Each runner should complete an application.
    • All applicants must be above the age of 18 for the 13k race. Supporting age proof, such as passport copy, drivers’ license or Adhaar card must be carried when collecting the bibs for the event.
    • Application below 18 years are allowed for 3K race, but must complete the physical form downloaded from the site with signature of guardian before collecting the bibs for the race.
    • Offline registrations are available at Puthalath Eye Hospital, Puthiyara, Kozhikode. Phone:0495-2744446, 2744443 from 10am to 4pm all days except Sundays
    • Spot registration is available for charity run-3K & 13K
    • T-Shirt and Medal for Spot registration is subject to availability
Entry Confirmations:
    • Confirmation of applications received will be subject to Entry Rules & Guidelines given herein. Confirmation of applications will also be subject to the minimum eligibility Criteria and can be requested from organisers.
    • Email confirmations will be sent to all the confirmed participants. Physical acceptance letter will NOT be posted. Race Regulation
    • You can participate only in the race category for which you had applied and for which your entry has been confirmed. Your entry and running number bib and /or bib tag is not transferable to any other person under any circumstance.
    • Runners found to have interchanged their running number bib and/or bib tag with another individual, will be both disqualified from the event and shall not be allowed to apply or participate in any future edition of the Event.
    • The promoter reserves the right to disqualify or exclude any person from the event or competition who gives incorrect personal data/details on the entry form, who has been banned from completion under IAAF Jurisdiction, or who is suspected of having taken banned substances. No refund of fees will be made.
    • No result or certificate will be given to runners who do not start their run at the respective start times of the race categories they have confirmed in.
    • No wheeled vehicles are allowed on the course. Anyone bringing wheeled vehicles will be disqualified from the race and asked to leave the course.
    • Participants are not allowed to run with pets, unregistered runners or babies/children who are under aged for the designated category.
    • Participants will not be allowed to enter the event venue with gas balloons or any items which may cause distraction or inconvenience to others.
    • In order to ensure the smooth movement of vehicular traffic, the organizers will designate cut off times at specified locations. Runners failing to reach these specific locations within times specified must stick to the footpath or sides of the roads in order to complete your race.
    • Only those confirmed participants wearing the current bibs will be allowed on the route. Any person found wearing the incorrect bib or no bib will be disqualified and removed by security.
    • Further, every runner must wear his/her running number bib on the front of the vest. Any mutilation, fold, alteration or damage to the bib will amount to disqualification of the runner from the Event.
    • Organizers reserve the right to stop any participant from participating who is found medically unfit to continue in the opinion of the medical personnel.
    • Baggage counters are available only for participants of the 10k run category. For security reasons participants are requested to come, as far as possible, without any baggage. It is strongly recommended that you do not leave valuables like mobile phone, cash, camera, jewellery, watch, electronic gadgets, etc. in the bag stored. Organizers are not responsible for any loss or baggage and belongings. Baggage counter will be approximately 250 metres away from the start line and runners are requested to come at least 1 hour early to the venue in case they need to store at these counters.
    • Participants are requested to co-operate with the police and security personnel deputed at the event venues and on route. Participants/ supporters are liable to random checking on race day for own security.
    • Photographs taken of runners during the event or promotional events organized prior to and on race day can be used for the purpose of promoting the event and for future events and runners expressly agree to this.
    • Decision of managing committee of The MERF MARATHON will be final and their decision on all aspects will be binding on all participants.
